Meet the Team

Merton Pre-School is a self-financing charity.  We are registered and inspected by OFSTED.  We are members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance. The pre-school is staffed by qualified childcare professionals, and managed by a committee of parent volunteers. All members of staff are DBS-checked, and are continually updating their qualifications by attending courses.

Hello, My name is Carey West.  I have been the Manager of the setting since April 2008.  I love coming to work, and the pre-school is like a second home to me.   I love the variety that every day brings.  It's amazing to see the children grow from meeting them in their homes to giving them their certificate at graduation.  I enjoy working with the parents to ensure that their children have the best outcomes possible.

I have been working in Childcare since 1998.  I started work as a Nursery Nurse with babies.  In 2001, I became a Registered Network Childminder, this gave me the enthusiasm to work with children to ensure they are learning through play.  In 2014 I completed my BA (hons) in Childhood Studies and had the most magical graduation.  I am currently studying for a Masters in Education, and this is giving me the knowledge to develop as a strong educator.

At home I have 2 boys and a Labrador, one son who is at University and the other at Senior School.  I like to spend time with my family, we love going to the woods and the sea, our favorite place is The New Forest.

I look forward to meeting you and welcome you to our happy team...

Corrine Keenan

Deputy Leader

NVQ Level 3

I am the Deputy Leader of the Pre-school.

I am extremely enthusiastic about my decision to return to Merton Pre-School after 20 years of working in other Nurseries, Crèches and Schools, both in UK and abroad.

I enjoy working in a fun, relaxed environment with a professional, dedicated team.  Together we enable children of all abilities to learn valuable life lessons through play.  Being fun loving and outgoing myself, I enjoy the outdoors the most.

I love baking with my daughter, who is studying Law.  My middle son is football mad like me and taking a gap year at the moment.  He wants to be a teacher, so there must be something in the genes!  My youngest son is 10 and we love racing around on mountain bikes.  My proudest moment this year was reaching the summit of Mount Snowden.  it was inspiring and reaffirmed my motto which is: You can do anything you set your mind to.

I look forward to celebrating your children's milestones, whether with Math, or any other area of learning with them and you.

I'm Tracy.  I have worked in childcare since leaving School, over 20 years.  I've worked as a Nanny, in a nursery and many years with children with Special Needs.

I have 2 children, a son who is over 20 years old and a daughter who is in School.  I am very proud of them both and all that they accomplish.

I choose to return to work in Pre-school as I'm fascinated by how children grow and develop.  I love being part of their development.   I really enjoy working closely with parents and supporting, however I can.  I enjoy attending training, you are never too old to learn new skills.

Merton Pre-school is a great place to work and I love being part of the team.

Hello, My name is Ann.  I have worked in Childcare now for 10 years where I did my Level 3 in a Day Nursery and joined Merton Pre-school in September 2014.

I am a Mum of two who are completely mad and keep me on my toes.  We love spending time together doing a variety of things e.g. walking, parks, swimming etc.

I love seeing each and every child develop in their own time and different ways.  It is a great achievement to see them progress and be happy in what they do.

Hi, I'm Debs (which is short for Debbie, not Deborah which most people think)

I have been at the Pre-school since April 2016, previously I worked as Bank Staff in Childcare since 2013.  Before I was in childcare I worked in the world of banking for nearly 9 years.  The best decision I ever had was moving from banking to childcare.

No day is the same, and that is what I enjoy.  As well as getting to know the children and watching them grow.  My Mum was a Childminder for 35 years, so I guess it was always in my blood just took a little time to realise it.

I have a son in junior School who is my best friend we love days out enjoying our Merlin passes, and enjoying food.  Anyone who knows me knows one of my passions in life is food: making it, eating it and talking about it.

I look forward to meeting all the new children and supporting them in their Pre-school journey.

Hello, I'm Claire.  I have worked in childcare for 18 years, previously in a Nursery, Preschool and After School Club.  I started at Merton Pre-school in 2016 covering maternity cover and then was lucky a Full-time position came up so I came back.

I love my job, I love working with children and each day I'm given something else to smile about.  This is a wonderful age where they find their characters, learn their likes and dislikes and start to develop their personality.

I have two daughters and a son.

I look forward to meeting all the families that join our lovely Pre-school.
