Local outings

We go on local outings to the parks, local shops such as Abbey Road shops or Tesco in Oakridge, the large green areas nearby, allotments, local walks. We use these to learn about our world and encourage children to notice similarities and differences, see print in the environment and learn about nature.

Adventure Time

Once per week, we take all of the children outside to spend time in the great outdoors (although they can play in the garden every session).  This is a more adventurous outdoor session.  We may use some activities similar to Forest School, or visit a nature spot, or make use of the Junior Schools large field.  This is not weather dependent, so no matter what the weather we shall be going outside.  The children all wear all-weather proof suits and welly boots.  We find ways of keeping cool or warm and use this as part of their self-regulation learning.

Forest School

10 children are chosen by the Pre-school to attend Forest School for a minimum of six weeks.  This is a child led activity supported by trained staff in Basing Wood.  Please, see the Forest School Handbook which goes over all the information.
